MICRO UNIT IN CAMBRIDGE

Given the housing crisis small apartments have become part of the solution in urban settings.

This 400 square feet micro-unit was designed to optimize spaciousness to make the quality of the room feel attractive despite the small size and the many uses it gets. In order to make the space uncluttered we provided plenty of storage cabinets with minimal and clean lines. The space feels larger by placing cabinets along the walls; their mass is dematerialized by adding mirrors including above the cabinets in coves and with stainless steel toe-kicks. The Led lighting in the coves and under the kitchen wall cabinets additionally expand the space. The Murphy bed easily transforms the space into a bedroom. A desk transforms to accommodate large dinner parties while the small round glass table works for every day use. Comfortable dining chairs also function as lounge chairs with the couch. The large windows at the balcony further increase the spaciousness.
